This is a kid’s adventure series that explores the history and the natural wonders of our Australian coast, it also touches on survival techniques and the importance of friendship.
The series is seen through the eyes of Sophie, a promising young artist who has limited hearing due to ear infections when she was little. Her family augment their communications through Auslan.
Her disability has made her an easy target for local bully – Tracey. But she has also found a friend in quiet Aboriginal local, Tony, who is learning Auslan to talk to his Aunty.
The story starts when Sophie’s grandmother becomes very ill and her family decide to extend their holiday so Sophie’s mum can look after her. While her mum is absent her dad, Darren, struggles to juggle working from home and parenting, leaving Sophie and her little sister Margo to run wild. When Sophie finds an old bottle with a half faded message along and a strange looking tooth inside, it kicks off an intriguing hunt for answers.
In the process of unravelling the message, Sophie, her sister Margo and Tony, along with the help of enthusiastic local librarian, Libby, discover long kept town secrets and scandals and a treasure trove of historical significance that could put this dying town on the map.
All the way, they must keep their findings safe from rich land-owner Mrs Parker – who wants all secrets buried, resident schemer Mr Green, who only wants to sell everything and Tracey, who wants nothing more than to prove that she’s better than Sophie in every way.
