Freeview “More for Me” Campaign

A monster effort in a very short space of time. We had just over one month to put this campaign together. This is the brand spot. There are 4 spots all together.

The concept is simple. Freeview’s slogan is “More for Free”.

So we got people from all walks of life telling us “more for me”.

Freeview  were offering viewers more channels, and better viewing options, we kept the campaign on a grass roots level and best of all – true.

The concept also has longevity, as the “more for me” concept can be used whenever there is something new to launch for Freeview not just content.

As far as the shoot went – we shot over 50 people over the space of 4 days – 2 days in Sydney and 2 half days in the Kiama area and Tamworth. I didn’t meet the people until we got to the location we were shooting at. I had about 20 mins with them to work out how to shoot them to make them feel comfortable in front of the camera.

Cutest moment – shooting the kids at the pool. Hottest moment – on the train station in Tamworth  – over 40 degrees.

These spots wouldn’t be possible without the help of Donna from Capitol, and Tom Gleeson’s wonderful camera work.

TiVo – “Home Networking” with Sonja Kruger

This is one of 24 versions that we created for both Australia and New Zealand.  Again, turn around time was crazy. I had one week to write up the scripts before we had to shoot them. We shot them over two days with Murray Stillman DOP and Capitol production company.

Commercial Reel – 2010

This has a collection of Retail ads I’ve worked on with Capitol productions. One of my favourites is a kmart kids clothing spot that was shot in a park down from my place. We got some beautiful images that day. Never underestimate the fun you can have with a bunch of 6 year olds.

TiVo Australia – Christmas Campaign

The first of my work for TiVo. Again these had very little lead time to make them happen. They were a lot of fun and a very simple execution.  Shondelle is the star in the purple dress. Shot by Rob Meyer, Sam Dunn Production Managing.

Mo’s Mobile – “Cheap Bastard” TVC

This shoot was so much fun. I came up with a number of concepts for the client, and the one they went with I’d called “cheap bastard”. It was quite courageous of the client because comedy is always tough to pull off. My favourite shot is the last one – where Shondelle, the mum, faints. The look on the kid’s faces are priceless. It only took 5 or 6 takes to get.

Other things to look out for – my cat Milo in his own staring roll on the tv in the opening scene. And the scenario with the busker that is taken from real life.

DOP Daniel Ardilly, Production company Capitol.

Rexona TVC with Ricki Lee

This has a beautiful look. I shot it with Daniel Ardilly on Red.  He made a small shoot look a million dollars. We shot it in the same hotel that Michael Hutchins died in. Fabulous location. My only regrets – running out of time to do the walking in the dark shot. That could have been better. And I had a wonderful end shot planned, but again, ran out of time.
